About Us
Learning & Support Services began as a small family-run vision built on compassion, community connections and a genuine commitment to helping people live fulfilling, independent lives. What started as one family working together to create meaningful support for adults with learning disabilities soon grew into a trusted organisation recognised across Essex for its reliability, warmth and person-centred approach.
The journey began when our founders saw firsthand how important consistent, high-quality support for adults with learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy truly is. They recognised a need for a service that didn’t just “fit people in” but adapted itself around each person’s life, choices and goals. With that belief at heart, Learning & Support Services was created with a simple promise:
As you adapt and change, so do our services.
From day one, we understood that every individual has their own story and their own strengths. We wanted to build something that honoured that, a service where people were listened to, respected and supported to make their own choices every day.
Today, Learning & Support Services is proud to be a well-established provider offering personalised, flexible and compassionate support across Essex. Although we have grown, we remain true to our roots as an independent, family-run organisation with strong values and a warm, community-focused approach.
We support adults aged 18 and over with learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy to live safely and happily within their own homes and communities. Our team assists with day-to-day living, personal care, appointments, medication, budgeting, meaningful activities and supported living arrangements, always working in a way that respects each person’s independence and individuality.
Alongside our support services, we have developed a strong reputation for delivering high-quality training services for organisations, schools, charities and independent carers. With a dedicated full-time in-house training team, we provide practical and engaging courses ranging from first aid and epilepsy training to fire safety, manual handling and more. Our training has become a key part of our mission to help communities stay safe, skilled and confident.
Everything we do is guided by the needs, wishes and aspirations of the people we support. No two individuals are the same, and we believe their support should reflect that.
We encourage people to take an active role in their lives, whether that means learning new skills, making decisions, or exploring new opportunities in the community.
We are committed to delivering safe, consistent and professional support. All staff complete thorough training and ongoing development to ensure our team remains knowledgeable, confident and compliant.
We support people with kindness, patience and understanding, ensuring their dignity is upheld in every interaction.
We believe support extends beyond day-to-day tasks. It’s about enabling people to feel part of their community and fostering positive relationships.
As a family-run organisation, we have always prioritised relationships over numbers. We take time to get to know each person, their family and their preferences. Our small size allows us to remain flexible and responsive, adapting our services whenever someone’s needs or circumstances change.
Our motto, “As you adapt and change, so do our services”, isn’t just something we say. It guides how we work, how we plan and how we communicate. We walk alongside the people we support, adjusting our approach to ensure they always feel safe, respected and in control.
We are also proud that our training services reflect these same values. Whether we are delivering a first aid session for a workplace, epilepsy training for a care team or Mini Medics for a local school, we aim to make learning accessible, engaging and meaningful.
Learning & Support Services continues to grow, but our purpose remains the same: to provide exceptional, person-centred support and high-quality training that strengthens individuals, families and communities across Essex.
As we expand our training offer, including the introduction of Oliver McGowan Tier 2 training, we look forward to reaching even more people and making a positive difference to the lives of those we work with.
We are proud of our journey, grateful for the people who trust us and excited for everything still to come.
